Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
