Mikel Arteta has expressed concern that his squad's pursuit for titles this season is being threatened by a concerning cycle of injuries and a relentless fixture list.

Fresh Squad Update

Star player Declan Rice did not travel for the midweek clash to face Club Brugge due to illness. In addition, attacker Leandro Trossard and defender William Saliba remain unavailable.

There was, on a brighter note, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the South American striker registered to their European squad. He replaces the injured youngster Max Dowman, who picked up an ankle injury.

"Training, no because we lack time to train. But clearly the fact that you are missing players, you are loading other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a really dangerous circle."

Dowman's setback is the latest in a long series of injuries for the club. Since the beginning of last season, they have recorded 95 injuries, the second-most total in the English top flight.

Long-Term Absentees

• Defenders Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel Magalhães are unlikely to be back until 2025.
• Midfielder Kai Havertz still rehabilitate from surgery and "needs more time," as stated by the manager.

Arteta rejected the suggestion that practice intensity were to culprit, citing a lack of opportunity for sessions. He emphasized the strain on fit players, some of whom have featured over 150 games in two years.

Transfer Plans

Even after a significant summer investment exceeding £250 million, Arteta insisted the club is not looking to enter the January transfer market.

"Right now we're just focusing on getting the players back and hopefully it will be a question of a short time," he commented. "It's clear how crucial those weeks are going to be."

Looking Ahead

The squad experienced their initial loss in 18 matches at the hands of Aston Villa, reducing their advantage at the top of the Premier League to two points.

Focus now shifts to the Champions League, where a sixth group victory would virtually secure a top-eight place. Forward Gabriel Martinelli could create history by finding the net in a fifth straight consecutive European fixture.

"The team is disappointed with the outcome, but we have to move forward," he stated. "It's not like all is going badly because we lost one game. So we remain united."
