Between April and July, the president’s staff billed the institution over twenty-seven thousand dollars for hotel stays at a famous luxury hotel. These expenses, which included multi-night stays and premium services, are described as “unprecedented” for the institution.

Additionally, thousands more was charged for private lunches, dinners and alcohol. Invoices show charges for premium champagne, multi-bottle wine orders and gourmet platters. Senior staff members with dual roles in political organisations founded or led by Grenell were named on several invoices.

Mounting Deficits and a Broader Political Strategy

The probe observes accounts that the institution is operating over budget amid falling ticket sales. The center’s president insisted that prior management were responsible for the fiscal crisis and that his team is fixing them.
