Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial World Series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down by two runs, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated World Series.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.

The Blue Jays won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
