Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. The first three producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv.
