NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes live text for the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available through select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and after last week's talk regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games was the amount of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

But it proved good to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the game by four points.

Denver boast the top defender with CB their star corner. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They had the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program that Denver might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while recent running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows that Denver are a team aiming to run first, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.

This has helped QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's so athletic.

His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, and using varied release points to make throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.

When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must cover the area downfield side to side. This proves draining.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are having on offence is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and boost confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
